When the founder of One Fit Fighter, LLC, and Every. Sweat. Matters., Katy Ursta, was 31 years old, her world began to crumble when she took the call that changed her life. She was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma cancer. With a 4 year old and a 6 month old, she laced up her shoes and went to battle.
As a way of "one-upping" cancer, she shared her struggle, publicly. With her sassy sometimes smart assy attitude, she took her fight to her gym, and literally sweat the chemo out while sharing her fight on Facebook.
Her workouts became a social media movement known as #everysweatmatters. This campaign allowed her team of health and wellness coaches to raise over $70,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
"Because if I was still able to sweat, I was winning. Every workout mattered. I was simply sweating for something bigger, and every sweat mattered." -Katy
Katy's campaign manager, Taylor, had a strong tie to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, as well, and the money raised during their 10 week campaign was able to award the team a research grant for AML named in memory of her cousin, Emily Leyland, Emily (31) passed away in 2013 after a long and courageous fight against Leukemia.
Katy and Taylor felt an urge to continue the ESM mission, but weren't quite sure how that story would unfold until September of 2016.
On September 22, 2016, Taylor delivered a beautiful baby girl, Francesca Joy. Frankie was born a sleeping angel baby, and the journey through grief ahead of Taylor was too unbearable to think about.
But, Katy knew what to do.
She jumped in and launched the ESM campaign again. She called on the ESM Army to sweat for Frankie and Taylor. They raised money for an organization that helps grieving mothers suffering from infant loss.
“I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to find a reason to get out of bed in the morning. But, Katy reminded me that all I needed was a mustard seed of faith… and she called on the army to sweat for my angel baby. I was once again reminded WHY Every. Sweat. Matters.”-Taylor
Both Katy and Taylor strongly believe that this mission is the perfect way to pay forward the kindness they have received, the sweat that has been offered, and power of mustard seeding it-a term they use for faithing your way through struggle.
Here at ESM, we also know that cancer research and infant lost are not the only causes out there that need our help. That is why we created a program called Charity Choice, which will allow you to raise funds for the cause that is near and dear to your heart. We want your charity to benefit from the power of sweating for something bigger.
The vision is that one day, Every. Sweat. Matters. will be a household name and that people of all ages will understand the power of prayer through sweat.
50% of profits from Every. Sweat. Matters. merchandise sold will be donated to several charitable organizations, including but not limited to the Leukemia & Lymhpoma Society, and The Finley Project.
